At the Rainy River District School Board September meeting, Addison Brown from Rainy River High School was sworn in as the First Nation, Métis, and Inuit Student Trustee. Addison Brown joins fellow Student Trustees, Branwyn Minor from Northern Lakes School who also starts her first term and returning Student Trustee Isabelle Meeks from Fort Frances High School.

Kathryn Pierroz, Chair: "We welcome the voices of our Student Trustees, Addison, Branwyn, and Isabelle, who each bring unique perspectives and experiences to our Board table. We are particularly proud to acknowledge Addison as this new role's first Indigenous Student Trustee. Addison's appointment marks a significant milestone, reflecting the Rainy River District School Board’s commitment to FMNI education, sovereignty, and our ongoing work in reconciliation."

The creation of the First Nation, Métis, and Inuit Student Trustee occurred in March 2024 by Board resolution, increasing the number of Student Trustees from two to three. Student Trustees are elected or acclaimed through school elections for a two-year term, with the three high schools rotating in providing an appointment each year.
