
Board Meeting Highlights - December 3, 2024
Election of new Chair and
Vice Chair
At the Annual Board Meeting
held on Tuesday, December 3, 2024, the RRDSB Board of Trustees conducted its
annual election for the positions of Chair and Vice-Chair of the Board.
Trustee, Kathryn Pierroz,
who represents the Townships of Alberton and La Vallee, and the communities of
Miscampbell, Dance, Lake Despair, and Griesinger was acclaimed as Board Chair.
Trustee, Mike Walchuk, who represents the Town of Fort Frances and Unorganized
Areas East of Fort Frances was acclaimed as Vice Chair.
Trustee, Jeff Lehman, who
represents the Township of Atikokan and surrounding area, was acclaimed as the Ontario
Public School Board Association Representative.
Trustee, Kathryn Pierroz,
was also acclaimed as the Ontario Public School Board Association (OPSBA) Voting
Delegate.
Trustee, Jeff Lehman, was also
acclaimed as the Ontario Public School Board Association (OPSBA) Alternate
Voting Delegate.
Recognition of Excellence
Blue Jays Baseball at Robert Moore School - Principals Char Bliss and Shane Beckett,
together with Youth Outreach Worker Rebecca Tolen and Literacy Support
Assistant Melissa Gushulak, presented the Blue Jays Baseball program at Robert
Moore School. They underscored its success in engaging students, parents, and
staff, with a focus on physical literacy, self-regulation, team building and
having fun. Students Sophie Calder and Brayden Wood
attended the presentation as well, where they responded to questions from the
Board members. Sophie participated in the girls' program, while Brayden was
involved in the younger league.

System-Program/Curriculum Success
2024-2025 RRDSB Equity Plan
Beth Fairfield,
Superintendent of Education, presented the 2024-2025 Equity Action Plan, which
focuses on addressing systematic barriers and building capacities. The plan
includes working with subject experts, holding focus groups, and developing
guidelines.
