Rainy River District School Board Approves Balanced Budget for 2025–26, Prioritizing Student Success and Well-Being
The Rainy River District School Board is pleased to announce the approval of a balanced preliminary budget of $66,244,580 for the 2025–26 fiscal year, following consultation with students, families, staff, and community partners. This budget reflects the Board’s ongoing commitment to its Mission, Vision, and Strategic Plan, ensuring that every student is supported in a safe, inclusive, and engaging learning environment.
The 2025–26 budget continues to invest in key areas that support the Board’s strategic pillars. Within the pillar of A Culture of Caring, sustained funding for mental health professionals, Autism Support Workers, Behavioral Therapists, and FNMI Graduation Coaches ensures that students receive the personalized support they need. The budget also maintains enhanced funding for field trips and athletic excursions and reinvests in school nutrition and student well-being initiatives.
Within the pillar of a Culture of Lifelong Learning, the budget supports evidence-based literacy and math instruction, including the continued implementation of Tier 3 intervention program, Empower Reading™. It also expands Ojibwe language instruction through the Anishinaabemodaa strategy and strengthens First Nation, Métis, and Inuit education through continued funding to support Elders, Senators, and Knowledge Keeper visits within schools and classrooms. Investments in experiential learning, skilled trades programming, and professional development further enhance student engagement and future readiness.
Chair of the Board, Kathryn Pierroz stated, “This budget reflects our collective commitment to student achievement, equity, and well-being. We are proud to present a plan that not only meets our financial obligations but also strengthens the supports and opportunities available to every learner in our District.”
