OYAP Level 1 Apprenticeship Dual Credits

OYAP Level 1 Apprenticeship Dual Credits

This is an opportunity for Grade 12 RRDSB students to complete official Level 1 Apprenticeship in-class training at Confederation College in Thunder Bay while earning secondary school credits toward graduation. Instruction and assessment are delivered directly by college instructors, with continuous support from a home school teacher. Participants are still students of the Rainy River District School Board while taking the program.

Successful students will graduate with...

  • Recognized on-the-job apprenticeship training for a skilled trade;
  • Level 1 classroom training already completed for that trade;

... which can go towards pursuing an apprenticeship after graduation.

Important Note: To participate in the Level 1 OYAP program, students must be formally registered as an apprentice with an employer through their Co-op OYAP program. Securing and finalizing an apprenticeship is the responsibility of the student.

Participation is determined by student elibigility and program availability.

Currently, Level 1 Apprenticeship training is available for a small number of RRDSB students in these trades:

  • Automotive Service Technician (310S)
  • General Carpenter (403A)
  • Welder (456A)
