Families

The Rainy River District School Board offers support, communication, resources, and services for parents and guardians of students. We believe that strong partnerships between home and school are crucial for student success. When parents and guardians are involved in their child's school life and education, it helps pave the way for future success.

2026-2027 Updates to the Grades 7, 8 and 10 History Curriculum

The Minister of Education has issued previously announced updates to the Grades 7, 8 and 10 History curriculum for implementation in the 2026-27 school year. The updated curriculum is now available on the Curriculum and Resources website. The existing curriculum remains in effect for the remainder of this school year. With these updates, in Grades 7, 8, and 10, students will learn about significant contributions of Black individuals and communities to Canada’s foundation as a nation, and the obstacles they faced in the pursuit of building an inclusive and prosperous country.

Parent overviews of the new curriculum can be found at: Elementary social studies, history and geography: an overview for parents (2026)
