Report a Bullying Incident

It is the policy of the Rainy River District School Board to provide safe and nurturing learning and working environments that are free from bullying behavior.


The Definition of Bullying

Bullying means aggressive and typically repeated behavior by a student where the behavior is intended by the pupil to have the effect of, or the pupil ought to know that the behavior would be likely to have the effect of,

  • Causing harm, fear or distress to another individual, including physical, psychological, social or academic harm, harm to the individuals reputation or harm to the individuals property, or
  • Creating a negative environment at a school for another individual, and the behavior occurs in a context where there is a real or perceived power imbalance between the pupil and the individual based on factors such as size, strength, age, intelligence, peer group power, economic status, social status, religion, ethnic origin, sexual orientation, family circumstances, gender, gender identity, gender expression, race, disability or the receipt of special education.

Anti-Bullying Reporting

If you experience or see bullying, report it to a family member, a teacher, guidance counselor, Principal, Vice Principal, or any other adult in the school either in person or by phone. You can also use this online reporting form to report bullying that disrupts the learning climate of the school. All information that is submitted on the online reporting form will be forwarded to the appropriate Principal and Vice-Principal(s) and appropriate action will be taken. We encourage you to provide sufficient information in your report to enable school administrators to investigate and respond to your concern.

Messages will be read during regular school day hours. If you or somebody else is at immediate risk of harm call the Police at 911. For immediate assistance before or after school, during school holidays or on the weekends, you can contact the Kids Help Line toll-free at 1-800-668-6868.

If a student has experienced violence or threat of harm, they or their parents should contact the local police immediately for assistance.
